Niger Delta Youths Successfully Complete Fyd Organised Training Programme In Malaysia

Fifty (50) Nigerian youths drawn from various states of the Niger Delta region of the country have successfully completed an intensive Arc Welding course at Tati University

College, Malaysia, organized by the Foundation for Youth Development (FYD) under the auspices of the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme (NDAP).

The training programme which is part of the youth development and re-integration component of the amnesty programme of the Nigerian Presidency commenced on 23rd September 2011 and ended on March 20, 2012 with a colorful graduation ceremony which was attended by the Nigerian High Commissioner to Malaysia and the Malaysian Minister of Education and Students Welfare among other dignitaries.

Tati University College Malaysia proved its pedagogical competence by providing the best training for the Nigerian students in the following areas: Health and Safety, Setting up of equipment, Welding defects, Welding consumables, Joints and Preparation, Introduction to codes and standards, Understanding of welding procedures, Welding laying stringer, Beads, Flat filler (1F), Horizontal Vertical (2F), Vertical fillers (3F), and flat butt (1G),Vertical butt (3G) for low carbon steel materials, Welding vertical pipe (2G),Horizontal pipe fixed (5G) , inclined pipe(6G) for medium and high tensile steel materials.

The fifty (50) trainees learnt the skill of ARC WELDING TECHNOLOGY with passion and hard work. On graduation day (March 20, 2012), the trainees were awarded certificates and testimonials by Tati University College in Arc Welding Technology.
